Helen Herimbi is a music journalist, online radio host, voice-over artist, workshop facilitator and fiction writer who is based in Johannesburg, South Africa. It has been a decade since she began her career in the arts and entertainment industries.
During this time, Helen has sat down with everyone from Babyface to Babes Wodumo for in-depth interviews. She has also critiqued television, film and other entertainment disciplines.
Helen has held positions such as editor of music magazine, MTN Xploaded, and the business and arts magazine, Jozi Insider. She has been a web editor at Africa’s biggest pay-TV company and a senior content producer at a free-to-air channel.
She writes for the Independent Media Group and in the past. has contributed to publications such as GQ South Africa, VISI Magazine, Hype Magazine, Rolling Stone South Africa, afriPOP! Mag, BONA Magazine, Essays of Africa and more.
Helen is frequently asked to give talks to young people and aspiring writers.
In 2017, Helen joined Touch HD as the host of #4PLAYSwithHelen – a music-centred show that streams live on Monday to Thursday.
Helen is also an avid writer of fiction. She was selected to be a part of the South African leg of the Writivism creative writing course, which is presented by the Centre of African Cultural Excellence.
These days, Helen splits her time between writing about or interviewing musicians and working on a novel.
