Although he refers to himself as the Greek Geek, Aki has an exceptionally outgoing personality and is able to work a crowd like few others can. For example, he manages to single-handedly entertain a crowd of 50 000 people for five hours straight each year at the start of the Discovery 702 Walk the Talk.
His good humour and boundless enthusiasm make him a natural communicator whether the situation is one-on-one or a large crowd and he is a sought after speaker at numerous tech-conferences and expos. The Consumer Electronics Expo in Las Vegas and the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona are two of the many international conferences he attends to stay ahead of trends and to identify future trends.
In 2011, he also earned the title of ‘Best Traffic Presenter’ at the MTN Radio Awards.
Aki’s other great passion is technology and he presents technology and gadget driven features on David O’Sullivan, Redi Tlhabi and Jenny Crwys-Williams’ shows on 702/Cape Talk.
He also hosts a weekly technology show called Tech on Tap on Summit TV and appears regularly as a technology commentator on CNBC Africa. In addition, he hosts tech slots on Technorati and DeafTV, both of which feature on SABC 3.
He was one of the first South African personalities to use Twitter and continues to lead in this field. He consistently ranks as one of the most influential Twitter users in various polls and publications including mainstream magazine, Cosmopolitan, which named him one of their Twitter Kings. Aki also consults and engages corporates and individuals on social media strategies.
